Flooding caused the Pongolapoort Dam to reach 87% of its capacity; DUNN was at the helm when waters were released to maintain the structural integrity. Only his former military training could prepare him for a storm of this magnitude, a storm that reportedly caused 242 deaths and left about $199 million in damage. Three decades later, DUNN lost his struggle with cancer on April 20,2015 at the age of 87.
